By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information Stored Locally (On-Device)
The App processes and stores certain personal and health tracking information to provide its core features. This includes:User Characteristics: Age, Gender, Weight, and Height.Health & Nutrition Logs: Calorie logs, nutrient tracking, and food history.Crucial Note: All of this data is stored strictly on your local device using Android DataStore and an encrypted Room database. We do not operate external servers, and this data is never transmitted to us or any third party.
2. Information Collected and Transmitted
To provide barcode scanning and food identification, the App utilizes third-party application programming interfaces (APIs). When performing these actions, the following data is transmitted:Product Interaction Data (Barcodes): When you scan a barcode, the numerical barcode value is sent to the Open Food Facts API to retrieve matching product information.Device and Other Identifiers (IP Address): To fulfill network requests to the Open Food Facts API and to allow for technical diagnostic and library updates via Google ML Kit, your device's IP address is automatically processed by these services.
3. We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or tracking purposes. Data transmission is strictly limited to the operational functionalities described in Section 2.
4. Data Security & Encryption in Transit
The security of your data is important to us. All data transmitted between the App and external third-party services is fully encrypted in transit using secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) connections.
5. Data Retention and Deletion Local Data: You retain full control over your local data. You can delete your food logs directly within the App user interface, or wipe all app data entirely at any time via your device’s Android Settings (Apps > DeepDiet > Storage > Clear Data). Network Data: Network requests (IP addresses and scanned barcodes) sent to Open Food Facts are processed according to the Open Food Facts privacy guidelines.
6. We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If new features would require new data to be collected, we will ask for your permission again (opt-in).
